its funny how now with the flyer rules n other stuff Guard just got a whole lot harder, don't think anyone could bring out on table 9 flyers from their own list. now being 6's to hit. ouch.

Aren't Necron Scythes Flyers. They can bring 6 with Troops, 3 in HS, and then Ally in 3 Vendettas. But at that points level, you would just double the forge organization and just bring Moar Scythe.

I think forcing someone to get 1 HQ and 1 troop, with no named characters when they want to take allies will be limiting factors.

Will they be limiting enough? It usually takes about six months to a year for all the broken gimpy nonsense to come out when GW releases a new edition to a game.

So I don't think we'll know how game breaking allies will be until people start playing them.

The stupid part about this is that GW should already have done enough playtesting for any major problems to already be ironed out. Sadly GW playtests about as well as a chainsaw can render opera.

i am just laughing to myself reading this whole thing. i will be the guy to bring a lord on a TW with a 3 man squad of thunderwolves, then bring the blood angel sanguinary priest and run him on a bike with my TW. furious charge and feel no pain. i mean come on. if thats not broken, then the liberty bell aint broken.

Why is it broken? You could buy another TWC with SS for the points of the Sang Priest. Then the Lord would not get the bonus, but it would take almost as much firepower to kill the squad with an extra TWC in there as it would with a SP (the SP is equivalent to about 3 more wounds for the TWC, while the TWC only brings in 2 more wound). With the Lord, you get a bonus of about 4 extra wounds (and none against Dreads or other units with S10 attacks, or against Force Weapons), but the Sang Priest does not do anything offensively. So you get about as much defense out of his 85 points as you would out of 2 TWCs... but practically 0 offense. It seems like a reasonable cost to get 2x the defensive bonus if you get none of the offensive bonus of adding in another TWC.

You could get a bigger bang for the points if you made the squad bigger. But as I'm sure you know, you end up with an unwieldy amount of points into a unit, especially considering that it's not Fearless and thus vulnerable to Psychic powers and to being Tank Shocked into position for blasts/templates. And if there's one thing I'm certain, is that Battle Cannons, Plasma Cannons, and Demolisher Cannons are going to be more popular in 6th than in 5th.

I can see doing what you said and calling it good. I don't see it as broken.

Other things, maybe, like adding a Sang Priest to a 50 man blob squad.

well i dont know if you know me, but there was so much sarcasm in my post that i didnt think i would actually need to explain (hence why i was laughing as I read the whole thing) . i think the allies are going to ruin gameplay. someone is going to find out how to break it and then it wont be fun. i highly doubt that in a competitve setting, you will be able to bring allies. but hey whats the worst games workshop can do?
