I'm new to the game. I was always interested but preferred large scale battles. So we're learning War of the Ring. My friend and I are getting armies together. I still have a lot of building to do, and I should read the rulebook again. I'd be happy to play once my army is built.

oh ya thats the one thing that catched my eye, having those trays and saw a HUGE team battle and it looked AWESOME!! I was wondering what everyone had for armys so can have different armys and not the same ones. I would love to buy things asap, if I knew I had a game, would you guys like to play? I could buy an army really quickly and such.

I have Kingdom of Rohan and my friend has The Misty Mountains. Take a look at the book, all the stats and pictures of the armies and their models are included. You are allowed up to 25% from any other army that is allied with yours, so if you really wanted the Balrog but don't want to play Misty Mountains, you can still take it if you choose Mordor or Isengard.

We are focused on War of the Ring right now. The Two Towers Journeybook you mentioned is one of the add-ons to the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game, the skirmish game based more on the characters of Middle Earth. These can be incorporated in War of the Ring campaigns, which is something my friend and I talked about doing.

There is an expansion coming soon for War of the Ring called Battlehosts, and some new models and terrain.

don't mind if I butt in.. I opened a decussion on General.. But hell yeah.. Me and my buddie chris have been tinkering with terrain.. he has Mordor, and I have the Rangers of the North.. (aragons dieing bloodline) but any how, I'm thinking of doing demo's out there very soon.. Kinda sick of seeing these lesser games poping up and people jumping on board and just waisting there money on something that will die off in 6 mo.. ..

Yawn!!!!!!!

Let me know when more than 4 people play this game on a weekly basis at the shop and I might check it out. Until then, it's just a poor man's WHFB.

Our armies are built and we were planning on painting them before coming to the store to play demo games. Due to the release of Warhammer 8th edition and the many, many Skaven I have yet to paint, my Kingdom of Rohan army for War of the Ring will not see paint for a while, so instead of delaying this any longer, we are ready to start playing War of the Ring.

Anyone interested in playing a demo game to get an idea of the rules and how the game works, please feel free to contact me. My buddy Pete is also ready to go. He uses Misty Mountains.

I know this game has been swept under the rug, but I thought I'd post about it once more to see if there is any interest here.

My friend and I had a game of War of the Ring yesterday, the first one. Aside from taking forever because we foolishly made it 3000 points because he HAD to use the Balrog, War Mumak of Harad, (or Oliphant according to Sam G.), and 2 dragons, it was a great experience. The rules are very good, but the turn sequence is different from other games of this type. We got used to it after the first couple of turns and the game went smoothly, and it was fun.

If anyone has an army and would like a game, I can be at the store any night after 8:00 and will be glad to play any point game and explain the rules while we go. I think anywhere from 1000 to 1500-1600 points is ideal.

I use a theme army taken directly from The Two Towers. It is The Kingdom of Rohan with allies from The Forgotten Realms (Gandalf the White, Treebeard, The Three Hunters).
