Thanks for the reply,
I'm going to be leaning heavily on the Everblight range from Hordes with a mix of anima tactics minis for characters and other interesting figures I come across here and there.
I tried the purple-grey and wasn't thrilled. I made another attempt with a blue-grey and want to get your opinion. Please see below.

The first pic shows the color of the skin much better but neither does a very good job of showing it. It looks much better in person ( and certainly far less grainy)
The skin is obviously all I've really done, the rest is very WIP. How do you think it came out? I went with an Astronomicon Grey base, mixed Astronomicon Grey, Modrian Blue and Dheneb stone in 1:1:1 and worked into a wash which went on second. I then followed up with successive layers of Space Wolves Grey and Dheneb Stone 1:1 at about milk consistency and layered many thin layers on to the flesh to bring out the highlights. I don't know how well it came out but I think it looks good.
Suggestions for the kilt? I was thinking yellow but wonder if that might not really go with the 'shadow' theme I was working for. Currently its based oxford blue (vallejo) followed by successive layers of hormagaunt purple going towards the edges. Its very dark but I wonder if its not a little boring.
Thanks for the advice dude, I owe you a six pack.
